OVERHEAD COVERAGE, SHAPED AROUND YOUR BOAT

Bimini or T-top? Start with your frame.

A bimini uses framed overhead canvas, often with a folding arrangement. T-top canvas fits onto a T-top frame, commonly above a center console. An aft brow shade adds coverage behind an existing top. Share your setup so the team can discuss the approach that suits your boat.

Canvas Designers is based in Riviera Beach, Florida. We work from the coverage you need, the structure you have, and the practical details of how you use the space.

FIND YOUR STARTING POINT

Three ways to plan your top.

Compare the overhead coverage and attachment arrangement, then discuss the details of your boat. Every project starts with a review of the existing setup.

REPLACEMENT TOP CANVAS

Keeping the frame? Let’s look at the canvas.

If your frame is staying, ask whether new canvas can be patterned for it. The team needs to review the frame and attachment arrangement before confirming scope.

  • Overall views of the existing top and frame
  • Canvas edges, lacing, fasteners and worn areas
  • The coverage you want and any nearby fittings

Need frame work as well? Discuss the existing structure and the proposed scope with the team.

Send the boat model, location, overall photographs and the area you want covered. Include existing frame and attachment details.

02

Review the approach

Discuss top type, frame reuse where appropriate, coverage, materials and clearances. Ask what measurements or site access are needed.

03

Confirm the scope

Agree the proposed work, material, quotation, timing and installation or collection arrangements before proceeding.

LOOKING BEYOND OVERHEAD SHADE?

Side coverage is a different conversation.

Curtains address privacy or exposure at the sides of a covered area. Discuss the coverage and visibility you need separately from the overhead canvas.

Talk with our team
What is the difference between a bimini top and T-top canvas?

A bimini is framed overhead canvas, often designed to fold or stow. T-top canvas is fitted to a T-top frame, commonly above a center console. Share your existing setup so the team can discuss the appropriate approach.

Can you replace the canvas while keeping my existing frame?

Ask the team to review the frame, attachment points and existing canvas. Replacement canvas may be an option, but suitability and scope need to be confirmed for your boat.

Do I need a new top or a shade extension?

If the current top is sound but does not shade the area you use, a shade extension may be worth discussing. A worn top or a different frame arrangement may call for another approach. Send photographs and explain the coverage you want.

What should I send with my inquiry?

Include the boat make and model, location, overall photographs, existing frame and fastener details, the area you want covered and any requested date. Ask the team which measurements or access arrangements are needed before making a template.

Which fabrics and colors can I choose?

The appropriate material depends on the top, attachment arrangement and intended use. Discuss current marine fabric and color samples with the team, and confirm the selected material in the agreed scope.

How do tops differ from covers or enclosures?

A top provides overhead coverage. Fitted covers protect the boat or particular equipment for their intended use. Enclosures and curtains add side coverage, privacy or weather protection. Tell the team which result matters most for your project.

How are the price and project timing confirmed?

The quotation and timing depend on the coverage, existing structure, materials and work required. Share your requested date and confirm the scope and practical arrangements before proceeding.

Can I inquire if my boat is outside Riviera Beach?

Include the boat’s location in your inquiry. The team can explain what measurements, site access or fitting arrangements would be needed for the proposed work. Availability and arrangements are confirmed for the individual project.
