Start with your vessel

What kind of boat do you run?

Choose your vessel type to explore the layout questions that matter on board. Then compare materials and talk with our team about your boat.

Make and model help start the conversation. Your layout, hardware, access, and priorities determine the project.

Different vessels. Different enclosure priorities.

01 / Sportfish

Keep the helm and fishing routine connected.

Start with your helm position and the route between the cockpit, flybridge, and tower. Review where you want protection and where an opening needs to stay practical.

  • Check seated and standing sightlines around frames and panel joins.
  • Plan access beside ladders, supports, controls, and fishing equipment.
  • Discuss ventilation and how each panel will open and secure.

02 / Motor Yacht & Flybridge

Bring visibility, airflow, and deck access together.

A flybridge or aft-deck enclosure needs to work with the yacht’s structure and the way people move through the space. Review the forward panels and aft openings as one layout.

  • Consider views from the helm and surrounding seating.
  • Plan guest circulation, aft access, and ventilation.
  • Coordinate borders and zippers with the boat’s exterior finish.

03 / Center Console

Protect the helm without losing the layout.

Start with the console and T-top geometry. Plan where panels meet the windshield and supports, and how you reach the helm and move around the boat.

  • Review steering, throttle, electronics, and control access.
  • Keep the route around the console part of the panel plan.
  • Discuss opening panels, ventilation, and secure handling.

The brief: Create side wing panels that operate as doors in the out position, then swing into a magnetic latch system when running.

The custom solution: A purpose-built hinge system allows each door panel to be removed by releasing one socket screw. A 60 mil Regalite clear-vinyl connecting panel transitions the forward edge outward to provide a clear plane for the door to swing.

Made around the boat: Aluminum extrusion frames were machined, bent, welded and powder coated in-house. The swing path had to clear armrests, reach the rod-holder latch position and align with magnetic latches.

Materials recorded for this project
  • Stamoid Top by Serge Ferrari North America Inc.
  • Regalite® Firma O’Sea® polished 60-gauge vinyl by O’Sullivan Films Inc., as listed in the original project record.
  • EZ2CY® impact-modified acrylic.
  • YKK Zippers by YKK®.

Names reflect the original project record. Regalite and O’Sea are distinct product brands; the connecting panel is described in the project as 60 mil Regalite. Confirm current material selections for each new build.

This project’s removable doors, hinges and magnetic latches were custom engineered for its layout. Discuss feasibility, clearances and secure positions for your own boat.

04 / Sailboat & Catamaran

Plan cockpit coverage around sailing access.

For a sailboat or catamaran inquiry, begin with the cockpit arrangement and any existing dodger, Bimini, or hardtop. Review enclosure feasibility around helm positions, movement, and sailing controls.

  • Identify access to lines, winches, sheets, and controls.
  • Review visibility from each helm station and around the cockpit.
  • Discuss panel openings, connections, and handling before choosing materials.

Start with the way you boat

Which enclosure is right for your boat?

A boat enclosure surrounds an open helm, cockpit, or flybridge with clear panels and fabric borders. The right configuration balances visibility, protection, airflow, and access. Material and panel layout should be considered together.

02 / FLEXIBLE

Clear vinyl / soft glass

Flexible clear marine vinyl is often called isinglass or soft glass. Suitable layouts can allow panels to roll or zip back for a more open space.

  • Discuss where you want opening panels.
  • Confirm correct rolling and securing methods.
  • Choose care products for the specific vinyl.
03 / COMBINATION

A mixed panel layout

Combine materials where the boat’s layout calls for different handling. Our 72-foot Princess example uses EZ2CY forward and soft glass aft.

  • Review forward visibility and aft access.
  • Plan each panel’s operation and storage.
  • Keep care instructions clear for both materials.

The boat model alone does not determine the enclosure. Frame shape, mounting points, existing hardware, and the way you use the space all matter.

The details you use every day

Plan for more than a closed panel.

A useful enclosure needs a clear plan for visibility, airflow, and movement around the boat.

  • Keep sightlines in the conversation.

Review panel edges, zippers, frames, and the view from your normal seated and standing helm positions.

  • Decide how air will move.

The pictured three-piece phone-booth enclosure incorporates an EZ Vent. Discuss closeable ventilation during layout planning.

  • Know how every opening works.

Confirm how panels open and secure, where people pass through, and what handling is appropriate for the selected material.

Replacing an existing enclosure?

Start with what is no longer working.

Clouding, damaged panels, difficult zippers, and an awkward layout call for different conversations. Share photos of the panels, borders, tracks, fasteners, and supporting frame so the team can review the scope.

A clear path to the next step

Tell us about the boat and the way you use it.

You do not need a final panel design to start. The first conversation helps establish the space, the priorities, and what needs to be measured.

  1. Review the existing setup.

Explain what you want to improve and share overall views plus close-up photos.

  2. Discuss layout and materials.

Consider visibility, ventilation, access, panel handling, borders, and existing supports.

  3. Confirm fitting, scope, and scheduling.

Boat location, access, measurements, materials, and project complexity influence pricing and timing.

Already have an enclosure?

Care that suits your panels.

Rigid acrylic and flexible clear vinyl need material-specific care. Identify the panel material before selecting a cleaner, polish, or scratch-removal product.

Care & maintenance guide

Rinse salt first.

Use fresh water to remove salt and loose debris before cleaning. Follow the panel manufacturer’s instructions and the care product label.

Confirm compatibility.

Do not assume a product approved for acrylic is suitable for every coated clear vinyl. Ask the team if the material is unknown.

Handle panels correctly.

Follow the fabricator’s opening and securing instructions. Avoid forcing rigid panels to bend or treating them as roll-up vinyl.

Product pages show current prices, options, availability, and directions. Contact us before attempting scratch removal on an unidentified panel material.

Practical answers

Before you choose an enclosure.

The right questions make it easier to discuss the layout, ownership, and care of your system.

Ask about your boat
What is the difference between EZ2CY and isinglass?

EZ2CY uses rigid acrylic panels. Isinglass generally refers to flexible clear marine vinyl, also called soft glass. Rigid acrylic holds its shape, while suitable soft-panel layouts can roll or zip back. Choose around your layout, access, ventilation, and handling preferences.

Can I combine rigid and flexible panels?

Yes, combination layouts are an option. The 72-foot Princess project shown here uses EZ2CY forward and soft glass aft. The arrangement for your boat needs its own layout review and measurements.

What should I share about my vessel?

Send your boat’s make, model, approximate length, overall cockpit or flybridge photos, and close-ups of the supports and existing panels. For a sailboat or catamaran, include the helm stations, dodger or Bimini connections, and access to lines and controls.

Can you assess an existing enclosure for replacement?

Contact us with photos of the entire enclosure and close-ups of damaged panels, zippers, borders, tracks, and the supporting frame. The team can review your concerns and discuss what needs to be assessed before defining the work.

How much does a custom boat enclosure cost?

Pricing depends on the boat’s layout, panel count and shape, selected materials, existing supports, hardware, fitting, and installation access. Share your boat details and goals to start a project-specific discussion.

How long will fabrication and fitting take?

Timing depends on the scope, material availability, measurements, access to the boat, and the current schedule. Tell the team about travel plans or deadlines when you inquire so scheduling can be discussed early.

What warranty applies to EZ2CY enclosures?

EZ2CY publishes a five-year prorated limited warranty, subject to its terms and registration requirements. Review the current EZ2CY warranty and confirm which coverage applies to your installation with the team.
