Flybridge Enclosures & Bridge Canvas

CUSTOM FLYBRIDGE ENCLOSURES

Flybridge Enclosures & Bridge Canvas

Canvas Designers builds custom flybridge enclosures and full bridge canvas systems for motor yachts, sportfish, and cruisers throughout South Florida. Based at 1500 Australian Avenue in Riviera Beach and serving the region since 1985, our in-house team designs, patterns, fabricates, and installs every flybridge enclosure to the specific vessel, accounting for the multi-sided geometry, panel count, hardware placement, and ventilation requirements that a flybridge deck presents. No templates. No generic sizing. Every build starts with on-vessel measurement.

Whether you need EZ2CY® rigid acrylic flybridge enclosures for maximum optical clarity, a soft isinglass replacement system, or a complete bridge canvas package covering the helm, radar arch, and all exposed deck areas, Canvas Designers delivers the full scope from a single point of fabrication and accountability.

VESSEL EXPERIENCE

Flybridge Enclosure Experience by Vessel Platform

Canvas Designers has built flybridge enclosures and bridge canvas systems for the following vessel platforms and categories. Every project is measured and fabricated specifically for the named vessel, not adapted from another platform’s pattern.

Princess Motor Yachts

Canvas Designers has completed EZ2CY® flybridge enclosures on multiple Princess Motor Yacht platforms including the Y72 (8-panel, 4-sided, Stamoid Charcoal borders) and the 72-foot Princess (13-panel, 4-sided, soft glass aft / EZ2CY® forward). Princess flybridge geometry requires precise multi-panel engineering due to the curved hardtop profile and the forward-projecting helm console. All Princess flybridge projects at Canvas Designers are patterned from the specific hull, not from class-wide templates.

Viking Convertible Sportfish

Viking 56 and Viking 64 flybridge stations present a different engineering challenge from motor yachts, the priority is weather protection during offshore passages and tournament use, combined with fast access to the bridge ladder and clear sightlines to fishing activity on the cockpit deck below. Canvas Designers has built EZ2CY® and soft enclosure systems for Viking convertibles, coordinating bridge canvas with full cockpit canvas programs on the same project.

Hatteras Convertibles & Motor Yachts

Hatteras vessels across the convertible and motor yacht range present flybridge dimensions that have been consistent within model year groups, but vary significantly across decades of production. Canvas Designers does not assume dimensional compatibility between Hatteras model years, every project is measured independently.

Sea Ray & Sundancer Flybridge Models

Sea Ray flybridge cruiser platforms, including the 48 Sundancer and similar flybridge models, have smaller flybridge footprints than motor yachts but the same exposure challenges. Canvas Designers builds EZ2CY® flybridge enclosures and canvas systems for the full Sea Ray flybridge range.

Custom and One-Off Platforms

For custom-built vessels, converted commercial platforms, or unusual flybridge configurations, Canvas Designers starts from a blank pattern development rather than any existing template. Our team has encountered and engineered solutions for non-standard hardtop profiles, irregular radar arch configurations, and flybridge decks that have been modified from their factory specification.

FLYBRIDGE ENCLOSURE MAINTENANCE

Caring for Your Flybridge Enclosure

Flybridge enclosures, whether EZ2CY® rigid acrylic or soft isinglass, are the most exposed canvas installation on the vessel. Correct care is the difference between a ten-year enclosure and a three-year replacement cycle.

EZ2CY® Rigid Acrylic Care

  • Rinse panels with fresh water after every use to remove salt. Salt left on acrylic surfaces accelerates surface degradation and makes subsequent cleaning more abrasive.
  • Clean with EZ2CY® Cleaner/Polish using Kleenex® Viva White paper towels. This removes static buildup and maintains the optical surface.
  • For deeper cleaning, use common boat soap with a soft mitt, rinse thoroughly, and finish with EZ2CY® Cleaner/Polish.
  • Remove minor scratches with EZ2CY® Scratch Remover, apply by hand or with a low-speed electric buffer, keeping the surface moist and using light circular pressure.
  • Never use: Rain-X®, window cleaning sprays, alcohol-based cleaners, acetone, lacquer thinner, or abrasive compounds on EZ2CY® panels.
  • EZ2CY® panels are designed to remain on the vessel. Do not remove panels unless absolutely necessary.

Soft Isinglass Enclosure Care

  • Rinse soft vinyl panels with fresh water after every use. Salt that dries on vinyl accelerates brittleness and yellowing.
  • Clean with a soft cloth and a marine-grade vinyl cleaner. Do not use solvents, petroleum-based products, or abrasive cleaners on isinglass vinyl.
  • Store rolled soft panels loosely, tight rolling under tension creates permanent creases in the vinyl that distort visibility and act as stress points for cracking.
  • Inspect all zipper tracks and zipper sliders at least annually. Corroded or stiff zipper sliders should be replaced before they jam and tear the enclosure fabric.
  • Apply a UV protectant formulated for marine vinyl annually to slow oxidation and yellowing of soft vinyl panels.

Canvas Border Care

  • Sunbrella® canvas borders on both rigid and soft flybridge enclosures clean with mild soap and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before rolling or stowing.
  • Inspect all attachment points, snaps, track slides, and zipper terminations, seasonally. Replace hardware that shows corrosion or loss of engagement strength before it fails underway.
  • Canvas Designers stocks EZ2CY® care products, Sunbrella® cleaners, and marine vinyl care products. Browse our care and maintenance guide or call (561) 848-2111 to order.
FLYBRIDGE ENCLOSURE QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What are flybridge enclosures, and does my vessel need one?

Flybridge enclosures are protective panel systems designed to enclose the upper helm station on motor yachts and sportfish boats. They extend usability in rain, wind, and sun while protecting electronics and seating from UV damage. If your vessel has an open flybridge, an enclosure significantly improves comfort and longevity. Call (561) 848-2111 to discuss your options.

What is the difference between EZ2CY® and soft isinglass?

EZ2CY® is a rigid acrylic panel that offers superior clarity, UV protection, and long-term durability, often lasting 10+ years. Soft isinglass is flexible, more affordable upfront, and easier to roll up, but typically requires replacement within 3–5 years. Your choice depends on usage and budget. Call (561) 848-2111 to compare options.

How many panels does a flybridge enclosure require?

Panel count varies based on your vessel’s flybridge size and layout, with no standard number. Smaller boats may need 3 panels, while larger yachts can require 10+ panels for full coverage. Each enclosure is custom-measured to ensure proper fit and sealing. Call (561) 848-2111 to schedule an assessment.

Can you build enclosures for my specific boat model?

Yes, Canvas Designers builds flybridge enclosures for all major motor yacht and sportfish brands. Every project is measured and patterned directly from your vessel to ensure precision fit and functionality. We have experience across a wide range of makes and sizes. Call (561) 848-2111 to confirm your model.

How long do EZ2CY® flybridge enclosures last?

EZ2CY® enclosures typically last 10 years or more with proper care and come with a 5-year limited warranty. They maintain clarity and resist cracking far better than soft vinyl alternatives. This extended lifespan makes them a strong long-term investment. Call (561) 848-2111 for maintenance guidance.

Do you provide additional bridge canvas services?

Yes, we fabricate full bridge canvas systems including helm covers, windshield covers, radar arch covers, seating covers, and bimini tops. All components are designed to match in material and finish for a cohesive look. This ensures consistency across your entire flybridge setup. Call (561) 848-2111 to plan your project.

Can you handle flybridge upholstery as well?

Yes, we provide in-house flybridge upholstery including helm seating, cushions, and bolsters. Our team coordinates canvas and upholstery work together for a unified, high-quality result. This approach ensures all materials and finishes match perfectly. Call (561) 848-2111 to discuss a combined project.

Can flybridge enclosures be customized for ventilation and airflow?

Yes, flybridge enclosures can be configured with ventilation considerations specific to how the vessel is used in South Florida conditions. Canvas Designers can incorporate zippered ventilation openings, roll-up panel sections, and strategic panel layouts that improve airflow while maintaining weather protection and visibility. Proper ventilation design helps reduce heat buildup at the helm and improves comfort during extended cruising. Call (561) 848-2111 to discuss ventilation options for your flybridge enclosure.
