The project

Four scopes.
One design direction.

Canvas Designers renewed the exterior upholstery, U-shaped interior sofa, utility covers and bimini fabric on this Sunseeker 74. Custom honeycomb quilting connects the exterior seating and sunbeds, while a coordinated palette links the interior upholstery and protective canvas.

The brief started with exterior cushions. The finished scope brought the seating, sunbeds, interior and canvas into the same design conversation. Materials were selected by application, with color, texture and finishing details used to connect the spaces.

01 / Exterior upholstery

Different materials.
A shared pattern.

Sunbrella Nurture in Pebble was specified for the seating. Sunbrella Horizon in Cadet Grey was used for the sunbeds, finished with Horizon Textil Navy welting. The materials serve different areas, while the honeycomb quilting brings the exterior together.

From the flybridge lounge to the helm chairs, quilted inserts sit alongside plain borders and bolsters. The balance gives the pattern space to read across cushions of different shapes.

The detail that connects it

Honeycomb quilting,
planned around the panels.

Hexagonal quilting makes alignment visible. Pattern scale and placement need to work with cushion divisions, curves and panel edges. On this project, that repeated geometry connects the exterior seating and sunbed areas.

Details that carry through.

The bow seating continues the exterior pattern around the dining table. Plain cushion edges frame the quilting, while the helm chairs repeat the treatment in smaller inserts beneath tall, unquilted backrests.

The transformation

A new surface language.

The original aft seating used a smooth finish, and the bow sunpad had horizontal channels. The renewed upholstery introduces honeycomb panels and plain borders. These project views show the change from different camera positions.

02 / Interior upholstery

The same palette.
A quieter finish.

The U-shaped interior sofa was upholstered in Ultrafabrics Tottori Origami White. Its plain surface brings the interior into the coordinated palette without repeating the exterior quilting.

This gives the project a consistent direction while allowing the inside and outside spaces to keep their own character.

The utility covers and bimini complete the project. Their colors relate to the upholstery, with each fabric selected for a different application.

WeatherMax 80 in Light Charcoal was used for the exterior utility covers. The covered bow view shows how the sunpad and seating are protected between use.

Project questions

Planning something similar?

Start with the spaces you use, the look you want and the areas that need protection.

What was included in this Sunseeker 74 project?

The project combined four scopes: exterior cushion upholstery, the U-shaped interior sofa, exterior utility covers and a bimini top re-cover. Custom honeycomb quilting connected the exterior seating and sunbed panels.

Which materials were used for the exterior upholstery?

The project specification used Sunbrella Nurture in Pebble for seating and Sunbrella Horizon in Cadet Grey for sunbeds. Sunbrella Horizon Textil in Navy was used for the sunbed welting. Each material had a specific role within the shared design.

Was the interior sofa quilted too?

The U-shaped interior sofa was upholstered in Ultrafabrics Tottori Origami White. Its plain finish relates to the exterior palette without repeating the honeycomb quilting used outside.

What materials were used for the covers and bimini?

The exterior utility covers were made in WeatherMax 80, Light Charcoal. The bimini top was re-covered in Serge Ferrari Stamoid Light, Snow White. These were separate scopes from the cushion upholstery.

Can a similar look be planned for another yacht?

Share your vessel details, photos of the seating and the areas you want to update with Canvas Designers. Material choice, quilt scale, panel layout, access and fitting requirements can then be reviewed for your boat. Confirm current samples and availability before selecting materials.
